Medicaid & Medicare update in Arizona

We want to inform you that the AHCCCS has assigned members enrolled in a ALTCS plan to either UnitedHealthcare or Arizona Complete Health (WellCare) as their Medicaid carrier.

Mercy Care and Banner University ALTCS & Medicare Advantage plans will be discontinued as of 10/1/2024.

What does this mean for members concerning their ALTCS and Medicare Plans?

• Members will have the option to change their assigned health plans during the month of JULY ONLY, to the other plan if desired.
  • If assigned to UHC they can change to AZCH
  • f assigned to AZCH they can change to UHC
• Per CMS guidelines all Medicare plans must align with the Medicaid plan.
  • Members assigned to the UHC altcs plan will need to change their Medicare plan to the UHC Dual Complete plan.
  • Members assigned to AZ Complete Health altcs will need to change their Medicare plan to WellCare Dual Align Plan.
• Beginning Oct. 1, 2024 the new ALTCS & Medicare Plans will take effect. UHC & AZCH

How to change ALTCS plans
If a member wants to change health plans, they must let AHCCCS know between July 1 and July 31, 2024, by logging into the member portal. The secure member portal is available 24 hours per day and can be found at this link:
AHCCCS -  https://ahpchoice.azahcccs.gov/

• To make a change in the member portal they will need to enter the following:
  • Member AHCCCS ID
  • Date of birth
  • Enrollment Verification Code found at the top of the letter
• If they are having problems accessing the member portal or do not have access to the internet, please have them call the AHCCCS Enrollment unit at 602-417-7100 or 1-800-334-5283, Monday-Friday 8:00a.m.-5:00p.m. Arizona Time Mountain Standard Time
